It seems like no one has thought about the right to think in this class. I too, however fall under this category. After reading Inherit the Wind, I have thought about it. The first thing that comes to mind are the ideas of Darwin. Like so many people know, Darwin was a very religious man, however he believed in these theories of his. Plus, they hav proof to support it. Not only do these theories come to mind, but the actions and consequences of others do as well. We see so often in the news of rioting and picketing, but we, or atleast I, think nothing of it. But if you really pay attention, you can see that this controversy comes up alot these days.
The first amendment comes up alot these days as well. It also annoys me how everytime someone starts yelling or says something bad, they just say "it's my first amendment right". Hwever, the first amendment is probably the most important. This country is built on the freedom of its people, including their right to freedom of speech and religion. These usually intervene on eachother and are used in the arguements that always follow. These are especailly true when it comes to book burnings. seriously, why do people like burning books? Who cares if people like Tom Cruise believe in Scientology? Who even cares that people believe in God? People all follow the same mistake, they believe they are right with no possible exception. People believe they have the true word of whatever it is they believe in. I believe people should always be accepting. The idea of change often scares people and they try and do whatever they can to avoid it. I just think that people should just accept the inevitable.
