Monday- First off I was blown away at how open Mis. Halpern was. She was in a mental hospital and talked about it in front of a room full of teens! That takes some guts. I know that teens aren't really the stereotype, but I do admit that as a whole we are quick to judge and would treat someone differently if he/she said that he/she went to a mental hospital. So that whole experience was very surprising and enjoyable for me.

Tuesday- As a whole all the students were great performers. All the pieces had a little of the authors in them, you could really tell that they spent allot of time on them, and put themselves in the works. One of the things that I wish with student writers is that they would have more time to perform, they are all so good that I wish they, like the other writers invited to writers week, would have the full period to perform. I think that they would do really well with that!

Wednesday- I loved Sierra DeMulder!!! I thought that she put in allot of emotion in her poems while keeping to the original subject of the poem was amazing! I write some poetry, so I know that it's really hard to do that, so I was blown over by the great job that she did.

Thursday- This tied with Sierra DeMulder for my favorite day of Writers Week. I absolutely loved listening to all the different types of music played. I was astonished that these students wrote these songs themselves!!!! Honestly I couldn't say which person that I liked the best because They were all just mind blowingly good!

Friday- Mr. Lombardo was a good writer. I liked the parts that he read to us, and most of all the excerpt from The Man with Two Arms. I liked how he explained the history behind the story before reading the piece. I wish he would have explained the whole situation with the statue of Mary being in his apartment and random people coming in to pray. That sounds like it would be a very interesting read.

All in all, Writers Week is defiantly my favorite school week, even more then the spirit weeks that we have. Going to see all these different authors, doing what they do best is extremely inspiring. Last year I saw the writer of First they Killed my Father, and when I actually read her story, seeing her in the past just drove in the words that I was reading even more. So I'm really happy that the school gives the students the chance to see all these different writers in all sense of the word. After seeing Sierra DeMulder ( I know I keep bringing her up, sorry!) I got a really good idea for a poem witen in performance style. I don't really think like that, so it's safe to say if I never say her, I wouldn't have gotten the idea. So all in all, I have to thank Witers Week for giving so many chances to be inspired.
