So In order of like-ing-ness ( is there a word for that?) First up... *Dramatic drum-roll*
Inherit the wind- I really liked the values presented in this book, it’s one of the ones that, though, yes it is short, really does make you think. Honestly I like that in books. Hornbreck is defiantly my favorite character because you imagine newspaper writers to just sit and take the facts, but he’s such a...hidden comedian is probably the best term for him.All in all I liked the themes of the book and the quiet humor.
First they Killed my Father- A big reason why I liked this book, well two. Was one, I actually saw her talk at Writers Week, and that really just made me go wow. This women lived through all that and could go up and talk about it, and just put a whole positive spin on it all, tat to me was just amazing. Secondly, I’m like Ms. Berdick, I just get overwhelmed by reading that sort of stuff, but it does put things in perspective, I read it just before the holidays and that made me enjoy being with my family all the more, so I really liked it.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream- I liked the fanciful tone in this play, especially Puck. I just love the character Puck. Maybe because you could argue that he made the entire play what it was because of his little mistake. Yah, I just loved the play because of Puck
Catcher in the Rye- Honestly I just want to hug Holden, and then punch his lights out. Hug him because he is so unstable, confused,he just doesn’t know what to do, and I feel sorry for him. Punch him because he is being such a big baby about it all and needs to grow up.
My Antonia - No, just doesn’t cut it for me. Let’s see... like Oleg says Jim is just glorifying his childhood. In fact I got the feeling he wrote the memories, or whatever it was, just to relive it. Call me crazy, but I think going into a little world made out of a embellished childhood is a little off. They probably have some fancy psychology term for it, and whatever it is, it probably isn't something you want
