The Books We Have Read So Far

I thought The Catcher in the Rye was one of the more "fun" and "interesting" books that we have read this year. I found it interesting to look at Holden's journey to try and save the young children from the hardships of the real world. However, some parts kind of bothered me, which made me not really want to read the novel sometimes.
I was profoundly amazed by First They Killed My Father. I just could not believe that a five year old would have to experience the Khmer Rouge's disturbing actions. I thought this bok was very interesting to read, but, like The Catcher in the Rye, I was bothered by some of the actions that took place in the story because they were so inhumane. This memoir actually makes me feel better about our society today because we are much safer and better protected.
I thought Inherit the Wind, was, like the other books, interesting to read. I liked to hear about what people thought of the idea of evolutionism vs. creationism and enjoyed how most of it took place in a courtroom, where there was a lot of action going on. I thought all of the events flowed nicely together and I found it easy and fun to read because of its play format.
I thought A Midsummer Night's Dream was confusing at times, mostly because of the Shakespearean language. However, I enjoyed a lot of the plot because it was fun and because of the dramatic irony. I liked how everything that was supposed to happen did not happen and because of that, I found it funny. I also liked it because I do not usually read books like that, so it was fun to read something different.
I liked My Antonia because it was so inspiring. It was really enjoyable to read about a girl who had a very hard childhood, but eventually grew up and had a great future. I agree with Lizzy that the story was boring at times and that sometimes it was more enjoyable to read than at others.
