#34 YEAH!

#34 - "You feel that adults treat you as an equal"

Sometimes I feel that adults, no matter what, think that they are always right. Even when I know they are wrong, since I am a "kid", they ignore my response because they are oh so much better.
I work as a referee for flag football and often times the coaches try to question what I am doing becuase I am only 15, but when I work with adults, the coaches go along with what the adult referees say more smoothly than if I would have said it. I read the rules, I know whats going on, this should not happen. Often enough, when I call a penalty, most adult coaches don't even look at me or when they give me the ball after the play they just throw it in my direction and do not even pay attention.
Also, last week during my lacrosse game, a fight broke out between one of my teammates and a player on the other team. After the game finished, some of the guys that run the league came over to talk to us about what happened. One guy just said that it was completely unnacceptable and that it should never happen, which I understand. Then another guy who i have never seen before in the previous six weeks of the league comes over and gives his two cents about the dilemma. He talks about when we are adults we can control our emotions better or some patronizing sh*t to seem like he is above us. When guys talk down to me when they are just a few years older than me, like late-teens and early twenties, it makes me really mad becuase they were in our shoes not too long ago. This situation is sort of like the ongoing battle between freshman and upper classmen.
This proves that just because I am 15, I am not good enough to be treated as an equal, and this should not be the case, ever.
