#17 People who swear a lot aren't very good people
I both agree and disagree with this statement about swearing. It is easy to argue both sides on this. If I had to choose one or the other, I would probably go with disagree.
I agree that swearing is bad, and in no way do I condone it. I think profanity does not represent a person very well. I would certainly not have a great impression of someone cursing. But I myself swear occasionally, and I don't consider myself to be a bad person.
While I agree that swearing is definitely a bad thing, I don' t think a person can be defined just because of that. I think everybody swears now and then. It's just kind of a common thing. Everybody does it, and it can be heard anywhere. Profanity is everywhere, and is becoming completely acceptable in our society. It's on television, the internet, in school, and even in some houses. I hear cursing all throughout the school. I have even heard parents swearing at their kids. My parents have sworn at me a couple times. My point is that everyone swears, and I certainly don't want to classify everyone as bad people.
I don't think a person can be determined good or bad based solely on swearing. I would base that decision more off their actions, values, and morals than anything else. So, at least in my opinion, statement number seventeen is false. I cannot say that all people who curse often are bad people, and I believe that strongly.
