Lizzy brings up an interesting point whether Islamic people have the right to be respected. I believe Everyone should be respected but if we create laws that enforce people to respect and tolerate each other, it would create another law that contradicts our constitution. I might seem unaccepting by saying this but people who's instinctive beliefs oppose instinctive beliefs of others they will not be forced to tolerate eachother. If people were forced to accept all others it would essentially give us all the same beliefs. I feel having all of the same beliefs would make us all conformed and have minimal individuality. If people were forced to accept the same beliefs all the time Christianity wouldn't have been allowed into society and some of the great art, such as works in the Sisteen Chapel, would never have been created. Our civilization would never have progressed as much as it has. If it weren't for Columbus' individuality we wouldn't even be living in this continent.
The right to think alone contradicts laws that could be made to force acceptance of all others. If we all were to accept everyone else our world might turn into one shown in the novel Brave new world by Aldophus Huxely. In that world noone knows real happiness and are only in a "happy state" when high on Soma. Another way the world could end up is portrayed in a short story by Kurt Voneget that I cant remember the name of at the moment. In this world there is an ammendment to the constitution that state everyone must be equal. People are crippled in order to make people of lesser intelligence and strength the same as the genius and athletic. I don't want that so I think people are allowed to judge and disaprove of others beliefs. People are allowed to think whatever they want even if it hurts others.
